NEW MURALS IN TOWN!
Posted in News with tags murals, Raskoe on March 13, 2008 by breezeblockWhile in town for their February Last Thursday show, Raskoe and Chris Semer busted out a new mural in the back of the shop. Raskoe had his incredible intern, Dillon, buff the mural he did back in September for the opening and 13 hours later this was the amazing finished product. A time-lapse video of the process will be out soon thanks to Shawn Willis…we’ll let ya know.

FEB. INTERVIEW: ARTIST CHRIS SEMER
Posted in Interviews with tags artists, Chris Semer, Interviews on March 12, 2008 by breezeblock
Q: So give us the basic intro…name, place of birth, age, etc.
A: Hello, my name is Chris Semer, and I was born in Newark, OH. I am 27 years old and I enjoy Bourbon. I currently live in Columbus, OH.
Q: How did you get involved with Breeze Block?
A: My #1 Pal Jeremy “Raskoe” Nichols hooked me up with you guys.

Q: What sparked art in your life, how long have been arting, what’s your art background.
A: I’m not sure what really sparked it… I have been making pictures since I was a tiny guy. I was always an observant little fellow.
Q: What do you think about graffiti/vandalism these days?
A: I think it’s become somewhat homogenized due to things like magazines and the interweb and shit. I’m not mad though. Just gotta roll with the punches.
Q: How long have you and Raskoe been buds?
A: Almost a year. We share a few common interests, such as talking shit.
Q: If I gave you a million dollars, what would you do with it? Would you give some to Raskoe?
A: I would probably do a whole lot of nothing if I had money. Like the guy from Office Space. I might buy Raskoe’s cat some stuff, I love that cuddly guy.

Q: Who are some of your favorite artists?
A: Klimt, Egon Schiele, Rembrandt, Sargent, Colossus of Roads, Joe Sorren, Ekundayo, Os Gemeos… a lot of guys I’m probably forgetting.
Q: Do you have an awesome day job?
A: It could be worse I suppose. I’m a professional with scissors and exacto knives now though.
Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?
A: Hopefully somewhere better than I am now. I’ve heard good things about Portland.
Q: How excited are you to visit Breeze Block? Move to Portland!
A: Oh man I’m pumped! Especially after hearing about this Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake dance-off. That’s my dude right there.
Oh my god – we LOVE Justin too! Let’s get our sexy on.
